This lesson we looked at symbols of our place, specifically signs and signals. This is starting to get me thinking about what visual cues I would like in my brochure to make a strong piece of design.
I have been thinking overall my symbol would be a bike/a piece of a bike, and my activities can have symbols such as defining characteristics of each place, such as Oriental/Waterfront could have flat water, or golden sand beaches, or people and families, whereas the bays would be waves, away from people with rocky beaches, and mount vic would have the trees or the mud/dirt etc.
In class we went on to a drawing exercise to make us think about how we can create our own textures. This exercise I found useful and intend to go forward to my places and see what I can make by using things like rubbings, drawing with what I can find at the site and even using images from the site and drawing them.

From here I intend to go on and create from my ideas and bring to the next class some definite symbols and strong textures to use
